The board of supervisors in Humboldt County, California, is considering its support for a bill to return land to the Yurok Tribe.
The bill would return federal land within the reservation to the tribe. The tribe says it needs the land to fulfill the Hoopa-Yurok Settlement Act of 1988, which addressed a land dispute between the Yurok Tribe and the Hoopa Valley Tribe.
The tribe is asking Rep. Mike Thompson (D-California) to introduce the bill.
