Leonard Anthony, a member of the Navajo Nation, has joined the New Mexico Indian Affairs Commission.
Anthony, a delegate to the ,Navajo Nation Council, hopes to infrastructure and education issues. He is one of 10 members on the commission.
"I am able to view the big picture of what the people would need, and as I view the big picture, I will be able to collaborate the communication with the Navajo Nation and San Juan County. I can be the strong voice for the people in general," Anthony told The Farmington Daily Times . "While fulfilling this appointment I want to do the best I can and represent all. I will also link myself with the state Senate, state representatives and work these elected officials to made these projects happen."
The commission works with the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department, a state Cabinet agency.
