Members of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York can work towards a master's degree at St. Lawrence University without leaving the reservation.
SLU has offered classes on the reservation for about 30 years. Typically, they are general education classes that tribal members have used to continue further work on campus.
But this summer, the school is offering an advanced counseling class on the reservation. The course will help people with a master's degree in education or a master's of science in counseling.
The tribe's chief, James W. Ransom, received a degree from SLU.
