The Oneida Nation spent more than $500,000 on lobbying in New York, according to a new state report.
The tribe paid $120,000 to the Roffe Group and $401,977 to Citizens for A Better Oneida County Inc. and Capitol Public Strategies, according go the New York State Commission on Public Integrity. The money was used for lobbying, ad production and placement and public communications, a spokesperson said.
"Like many groups, the Oneida Nation and Madison County hire lobbyists in Albany and Washington to work on issues that impact them," spokesperson Mark Emery said in a statement to The Syracuse Post-Standard.
The tribe lobbied state officials on land-into-trust, taxation and other issues.
