"With the use of ads such as the one above, the U.S. Census Bureau has been actively urging Native Americans, among others, to participate in this year’s census.
But a class action suit filed today in federal court in New York says that Native people are among thousands of minority Americans who have been rejected for Census jobs because of discrimination.
The Indian Law Resource Center, based in Helena, Mont., and Washington, D.C., joined in that suit, according to a news release about the lawsuit, here.
“The Indian Law Resource Center joined this effort because Indian communities depend on an accurate count of their members to ensure fairness in the administration of federal programs,” says Robert T. Coulter, the center’s executive director."
