The Obama administration has until April 21 to reach a settlement in Keepseagle case over discrimination at the Department of Agriculture, The Hill reports.
The administration has been in talks with the plaintiffs, who represent Indian farmers and ranchers who say they were denied loans and services at the USDA. Without a settlement, the case could go to trial sometime this year.
"We remain committed to resolving all class action civil rights lawsuits involving the department, and continue working to do so,” Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a statement in The Hill.
Keepseagle hasn't received as much attention as a case involving African-American farmers. The Obama administration recently agreed to pay more money in that case.
