Members of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Minnesota went to the polls last week to vote in a primary election.
Secretary-treasurer Ferdinand Martineau won nearly 60 percent of the vote. Under the laws of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, he won't have to participate in the general election because he won over 51 percent of the vote.
Voters also chose two top candidates for a council seat. Sandra Shabiash will face Russ Northrup in the June 8 general election.
