The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe
of South Dakota received about $400,000 in donations from the South Dakota Community Foundation .
The tribe is using the money to help people who were affected by recent winter storms. About 14,000 people on the reservation lost power and water for over a week.
In total, the foundation raised $270,000 for the tribe. Most of the money will be used to equip emergency shelters.
