A 23-year-old man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Tim Wolfe, a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho who was a star basketball player.

Wolfe, 21, was a Salish Kootenai College, a tribal college in Montana. He had gone home to Idaho for Mother's Day weekend when he was gunned down on May 9, 2009.

Juan C. Aldana Villanueva, 23, had been charged with first-degree murder. He faces 10 years to life in prison on the lesser second-degree murder charge.

The case was controversial for The Spokesman Review, which received anti-Indian and anti-immigrant comments on its website.
