Hayworth to disclose donors to Abramoff defense fund

Former Congressman J.D. Hayworth (R-Arizona) said he will disclose the names of donors to the legal defense fund he set up in the wake of the Jack Abramoff scandal.

Hayworth plans to release the names by April 15, when he files a fundraising report with the Federal Elections Commission. But Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) is calling on him to act sooner.

Hayworth is challenging McCain for the Republican party's nomination to the U.S. Senate. Both have strong records on Indian issues although McCain's standing slipped when he spent most of his time as chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee focusing on gaming and gaming-related controversies.
