The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho and the federal government say a mining company dumped more than 100 million tons of mining waste over the past century.

The tribe and the government say Sidney Resources Corp. should pay for cleanup of the Coeur d'Alene River Basin. The company and its predecessors operated the Bunker Hill Mining and Metallurgical Complex, a Superfund site.

"Young children continue to be exposed to lead in residential and recreational area soils that are above safe levels.," according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

The reservation lies within the lower basin of the Coeur d'Alene River. The tribe owns the southern third of Lake Coeur d'Alene.
