The Senate approved water rights settlements for tribes in three states on Friday.
S.4783, the Claims Settlement Act of 2010, includes settlements for the White Mountain Apache Tribe of Arizona, the Crow Tribe of Montana, Taos Pueblo in New Mexico and four other Pueblo tribes in New Mexico.
The Apache deal is worth $126 million. The Crow settlement is worth $460 million.
The Taos deal costs $66 million. The settlement for Pojoaque Pueblo, San Ildefonso Pueblo, Tesuque Pueblo and Nambe Pueblo is worth a least $173 million.
The Claims Settlement Act also includes $180 million for the Navajo Nation, whose water rights settlement was approved by Congress in 2009.
