The Bureau of Indian Affairs is expected to close the comment period on the Cayuga Nation
land-into-trust application on November 22.
The final environmental impact
statement recommends the acquisition of 125 acres in trust for the tribe.
The property includes two smoke shops that were the subject of litigation.
After the comment period closes, the BIA will make a final decision on the application although there is no clear timeline.
