All four Native American candidates who are seeking public office in Washington have advanced to the general election.
Jeff
Morris (D), who is Tsimshian, is seeking an eighth term in the 40th House
District. He will face Republican John Swapp.
John
McCoy (D), a member of the Tulalip Tribes, is
running for a fifth term for the 38th House District. He is running against Republican Hugh Fleet.
Claudia
Kauffman (D), a member of the Nez
Perce Tribe of Idaho, is seeking a second term in the 47th Senate District.
She faces Republican Joe Fain.
Finally, Dino Rossi, who is
part Tlingit, is running for the U.S. Senate. He is a Republican who is challenging Sen. Patty Murray, a Democrat.
