Two members of the Tuscarora Nation of New York want to collect tolls on motorists who use highways on the reservation.
Nicholas Patterson and Adrian Bigfoot set up a booth on Route 31 on Wednesday. No tolls were collected but they want to send a message to the state.
"They wanna tax us, you know what I mean? I think it's time we tax them. It's vice versa, it can work both ways," Patterson told WIVB-TV.
Patterson and Bigfoot say they will be on the highway until the state drops its effort to impose tobacco taxes on reservations.
