The Crow Creek Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is heading back to court after telecommunications giant Sprint rejected an offer to settle a dispute.
The tribe's Native American Telecom is accused of overbilling Sprint through "traffic pumping." The Federal Communications Commission says the practice is legal but Sprint has filed lawsuits in tribal court and in in federal court.
NAT said it will ask a federal judge to wait for Sprint to exhaust its tribal court remedies. "Native American Telecom is surprised Sprint would reject our generous settlement offer and instead choose to pursue more legal action which threatens the viability of a tribally owned telecommunications company," attorney Scott Swier told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader.
