Native Sun News: Candidates in line for Oglala Sioux Tribe primary

PINE RIDGE, SOUTH DAKOTA–– The list for the office of OST tribal president and vice president are lengthy for the October 5 Primary Election.
For President the candidates are: Donald Steele Jr., Lloyd Goings, incumbent Theresa Two Bulls, Garfield Steele, Denver American Horse, John Yellow Bird Steele, Darla Black, Elvyn Doug Bissonette, incumbent Vice President William “Shorty” Brewer and former OST Chairman, Harold Dean Salway.
For Vice President the candidates are: Tom Poor Bear, Melanie Two Eagle, Alvin Slow Bear, Myron Pourier, Henny Cleone Whalen, Pete Swift Bird, and Phyllis Wilcox.
For the Pine Ridge District the candidates are: Gerald “Jump” Big Crow, Marilyn Winters, Bruce Whalen, Ella “John” Carlow, Irving “Irv” Provost, former Prairie Wind Casino manager, Pamela Giago, Lyle Jack, John Mousseau, Carole Crazy Thunder O”Rourke, Robin Tapio, Garry Janis and former Tribal Councilman from the Pine Ridge District, Duane Brewer.
For the Wounded Knee District Council: Phillip Jumping Eagle, Garfield Apple, Anita Ecoffey, Mike Her Many Horses, Kathy Janis, Kevin Yellow Bird Steele, Eugenio White Hawk, and Wilma Thin Elk.
For the LaCreek District: Donna Fire Thunder, Craig Dillon, Kim Clausen, Cora White Horse, and Tracy Jones-Swallow.
For the Porcupine District: Phillip Good Crow, Anthony Wounded Head Sr., David Pourier, Bernard White Face, Virgil Bush, Troy “Scott” Weston, Randy Lays Bad, and Lloyd Patton.
For the Medicine Root District: Joseph Rosales, Austin Watkins Sr., Arlin Whirlwind Horse, James “Toby” Big Boy, Stanley Little Whiteman, and Anne Apple.
For the Oglala District: Jessie Ten Fingers, Valerie Janis, Goldie Starr, Floyd Brings Plenty, Debra Mousseau, Barbara Dull Knife, Jackson Ten Fingers, Paul Little, Christine Lajtay, and Mary R. Belt.
For the Pass Creek District: Lydia Bear Killer, Harvey Tallman, James Cross, and Elaine Martinez.
For the Eagle Nest District: Ruth Brown, Billy Amiotte, Jim Meeks, Sylvester Two Bulls, and Floyd Wilcox.
For the Wakpamni District: Dan Rodriquez, Tom Conroy, Ricky Gray Grass, Walt Big Crow, Irene Red Cloud, Debbie Blue Bird, and Sonia Little Hawk Weston.
For Chief Judge the only candidate listed to date is Marwin Smith.
