The son of legendary athlete Jim Thorpe filed a lawsuit to have his father's remains reburied in Oklahoma.
Jack Thorpe, 72, a past chief of the Sac and Fox Nation, said his father shouldn't have been buried in Pennsylvania in 1953. He wants the remains buried on tribal land in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
“The bones of my father does not make or break your town,” Thorpe told the Associated Press, referring to the town where Jim Thorpe was buried. “I resent using my father as a tourist attraction.”
The lawsuit requests the remains under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
