A British woman has sold large collection of Native paraphenalia for US$44,000, The Westmoreland Gazette reports.

Irene Thompson inherited the items from her friend Charlie Clayton, who died in 2005 at the age of 78. He was fascinated with Native Americans and had spent time on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota and South Dakota, where he was given the name "Grass."

The collection drew attention when it was featured on Antiques Roadshow UK. Thompson said someone from the U.S. bought the items.

Thompson will use the money to care for Sunshine, Clayton's horse.
