The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan has is expanding its police department with the help of money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The tribe hired one officer to fill an open slot on the force. A second officer will be funded for three years through a $134,000 stimulus grant.
The department has 11 officers.
