The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians of California will be offering free health care at a series of clinics in April, May and June.
The tribe is partnering with Army MedCom, a unit of the Army Reserves that provides medical services to underserved populations.
The services will be offered at the Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic.
“Over the past few years, we’ve been recognizing there’s a large number of people who have no insurance,” Jess Montoya, the clinic's executive director, told The Santa Maria Times. “We wanted to provide them with basically free services, at least do some screenings, cleanings and things like that.”
