The Osage Nation of
Oklahoma is asking the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals to rehear a case over the status of its reservation.
The tribe's reservation was created by an act of Congress in 1872. The 10th Circuit said Congress dissolved the reservation in 1906 when it allotted land to individual tribal members.
If the 10th Circuit declines to rehear the case, the tribe could petition the U.S. Supreme Court for review. The high court hasn't considered a reservation diminishment case since the mid-1990s.
