The House Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee on Interior and Environment, is taking testimony from tribal leaders, Alaska Native executives and Indian organizations today.
The subcommittee has scheduled two sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, to hear about their priorities for the fiscal year 2011 budget. A total of 38 witnesses are scheduled to present.
The subcommittee will be drafting the appropriations bill that includes the Interior Department the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Office of the Special Trustee for
American Indians. The bill also funds the Indian Health Service.
Today's sessions take place in Room B308 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
