Sen. Pat Roberts
(R-Kansas), Sen. Sam
Brownback (R-Kansas), Rep. Dennis Moore (D-Kansas) and Rep. Lynn Jenkins
(R-Kansas) are asking Interior Secretary Ken
Salazar for answers about Haskell Indian Nations
University.
The lawmakers are concerned about leadership issues at the tribal college. President Linda Sue Warner, a member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, has been on detail since September and all three top administrators at the school are there on an "acting" basis.
“I have heard from many Kansans regarding the lack of leadership at Haskell and the Bureau of Indian Education," Roberts said in a press release that includes a copy of a letter to Salazar.
The school also dropped two new degree programs and canceled visits from an accreditation team.
