Several federal agencies failed to complete their tribal consultation policies despite given 90 days by President Barack Obama, Indian Country Today reports.
The Departments of the Interior, Justice, Treasury and Transportation submitted their plans on time. But the White House acknowledged that several others, including the Department of Homeland Security, didn't finish.
“Agencies are completing their plans of action to implement the policies and directives of Executive Order 13175, as required by President Obama’s November 5, 2009 memorandum to agencies,” a White House spokesperson told ICT.
The November 5, 2009, memorandum also required each agency to submit a progress report.
