The Lac du Flambeau Band
of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin has gone without a president for two months.
Carl Edwards abruptly resigned on November 23, 2009. But the tribe was unable to choose a replacement at a meeting on Saturday due to a snag in the process.
Secretary Betty Graveen took responsibility for failing to notify tribal members about the meeting. She said the tribe had "gotten along without a president" fine but later agreed it was necessary to choose a new leader.
Another meeting will be scheduled to discuss how to find a new president.
