The Puyallup Tribe of Washington is asking Alaska Natives for help with a history project about the old Cushman Indian Boarding School and the old Cushman Hospital.
People who attended the school remember Alaska Native students. When the school became a hospital, a number of Alaska Natives were treated there and some are buried in the hospital cemetery.
"All we have are death certificates or official correspondences, not personal views," Amber Santiago of the tribe's historic preservation department told The Tundra Drums. "We just have the white people's perspective."
Santiago hopes people will come forward about Alaska Natives who went to the school and the hospital.
