Indian lawmaker accused of hitting colleague in arm

New Mexico State Rep. Sandra Jeff (D), a member of the Navajo Nation, is being accused of striking a colleague after a meeting of the Legislature's Indian Affairs Committee.

Jeff allegedly went up to Rep. Patty Lundstrom (D), who also serves on the committee, and called her "some pretty rough names," according to Lundstrom. The two engaged in some sort of physical altercation in which Lundstrom said she was punched in the arm.

"I was in shock," Lundstrom told The Santa Fe New Mexican. "Nothing like this has ever happened to me before."

Part of the incident was caught on surveillance tape but the alleged physical altercation took place out of view of security cameras.
