GENERAL: The Tribal TANF of Sonoma and Marin Counties (“TTSM”) is a multi-faceted program administered by the Tribe, and is located in Sonoma County California. TTSM provides a broad array of benefits and services to Native American and tribal families residing in Sonoma and Marin Counties. The incumbent will supervise no more than six caseworkers in the Family Assistance Unit and will also be expected maintain a small to moderate caseload of assistance cases.
BASIC FUNCTIONS: This position is an exempt, salaried position. Individual occupying this position will utilize their understanding and knowledge of TANF caseworker practices, principles, policies, regulations and requirements to manage the operational activities, to plan and develop systems and procedures, and to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the unit. Supervise staff in accordance with TTSM policies and procedures and are responsible for training, coaching and evaluating employees in the assistance unit. The supervisor will assist the Director of Social Services and other managers to develop and maintain an organization that includes sound management and service delivery models. The supervisor is responsible for developing performance measures, quality assurance and accountability, customer evaluations tools, and assessing service flow to benefit participants. Thus, a strong background in supervision/management in social services, eligibility and program compliance are key components of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Training):
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Social Services(official transcripts and degree copy required with application); AND 24 months of TANF Program service delivery experience for serious consideration including at least 12 months experience managing or supervising caseworkers ; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Social Services (official transcripts and degree copy required with application); AND 36 months TANF program service delivery experience for serious consideration, including 24 months experience managing or supervising caseworkers ; AND
- Must hold valid California driver’s license and be able to travel to meetings, satellite locations and for other program purposes.
OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience delivering services to Native American communities, in-depth knowledge and experience of case management principles and practice, advanced knowledge of TANF, ability to work independently and solve problems at an advanced level, excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with computerized case management systems and Microsoft Office.
