The Montana State Tribal Economic Development Commission announced $4.3 million in grants to seven tribes.
Each tribe will receive $617,937. The money came from the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009
The Blackfeet Nation will fund the third phase of the Blackfeet Community Water Project. The Fort Belknap Indian Community will use the money to assess fire hydrants, improve telephone communication and rehabilitate homes.
The Fort Peck Tribes will manufacturing facility to make it more energy efficient with the grant. The Chippewa Cree Tribe will use the money to upgrade a water storage system.
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and the Crow Tribe also received grants.
