Taos Pueblo asks state to cite bridge vendors
Vendors at the Río Grande Gorge Bridge in New Mexico face trespassing citations for conducting business without permission of Taos Pueblo. The bridge is located on the reservation. Vendors "do not have permission from Taos Pueblo to vend at this location," Gov. Ruben A. Romero said in a letter to the New Mexico State Police. State law prohibits vendors from engaging in business along a right-of-way at the bridge but enforcement has been lax. State police are finally taking action and have told the vendors to leave. "We intend to stop it,” Taos County Undersheriff Ed Romero told The Taos News. "If it takes me assigning men to the bridge, it will stop." Get the Story:
