Four members of the Tohono O’odham Nation of Arizona are once again walking 3,000 miles from Maine to Arizona to raise awareness of diabetes.
The group, led by Terrol Dew Johnson, started the journey in July. They hope to make it home by December.
Along the way, the group will stop on reservations to encourage people to lead more healthy lifestyles. Diabetes is rampant among American Indians and Alaska Natives.
"It's a lifestyle change and it's a learning process, especially for the young people," Johnson told The Dunkirk Observer.
The group made the trek for the first time last year. Johnson, who is a type II diabetic, said he has lost 50 pounds.
