Kevin Peniska, the former publisher of Well Nations Magazine, will go to trial August 31 on rape and child abuse charges in South Dakota.
Peniska, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, was indicted on one court of first degree rape of a child under 13, two counts of sexual contact with a child under 16, eight counts of second degree rape and one court of aggravated child abuse. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
The alleged incidents occurred in 2007 and 2008. Peniska has resided in Rapid City.
