An officer for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe is under review by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board.
Samuel L. Lopez reportedly lied to the tribe's public safety defender about his prior DUI arrest. As a result, DUI charges were dropped against a man whom Lopez arrested because Lopez was barred from testifying in the case.
Lopez left the tribe's police department in 2007 but was rehired in May. His certification with the state is pending while the standards board reviews his file.
