Wife of ex-Wampanoag leader accused of assault
The former chairman of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts says his wife struck him with her vehicle.

Shawn Hendricks and Elizabeth Hendricks, who are going through a divorce, got into an argument at their son's baseball game, The Cape Cod Times reported. Elizabeth allegedly got into her SUV and drove it by Shawn, hitting him in the shoulder.

Elizabeth Hendricks now faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery, driving to endanger, and speeding. She denies the accusations.

Shawn Hendricks served as chairman from August 2007 to February 2009. He stepped down after his predecessor was indicted on fraud and bribery charges.

In related news, a federal judge again ruled that two tribal members can't proceed with a land claim on behalf of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
