The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday upheld the sentences of two men who were convicted of an assault on the Blackfeet Nation of Montana.
Maynard Old Chief, 43, and Johnny Old Chief, 45, were involved in a December 2007 altercation on the reservation. Maynard Old Chief was sentenced for assault with a dangerous weapon and Johnny Old Chief was convicted of aiding and abetting the assault.
The men challenged the length of their sentences exceeded federal guidelines but the 9th Circuit disagreed.
