Dr. Yvette Roubideaux, the new director of the Indian Health Service, will be sworn into office at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., today.
Roubideaux, a member of the Rosebud Sioux
Tribe of South Dakota, was confirmed by the Senate on May 6. She is the first woman to lead the IHS.
Today's ceremony takes place at 4pm, in the Rasmuson Theater at the National Museum of the American Indian. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will administer the oath of office to Roubideaux.
