The Bureau of Indian Affairs has issued a decision regarding an ongoing membership and leadership dispute within the Alturas Rancheria of California.
Chairman Phillip Del Rosa and Vice Chairman Darren Rose disagreed over the number of enrolled tribal members. Del Rosa believed there were seven while Rose believed there were five.
The BIA sided with Del Rosa and said the tribe has seven members. The move gives Del Rosa and his allies a voting majority on the tribal council.
