Ramona Band recognized for renewable energy efforts
The Ramona Band of Cahuilla Indians might only have nine members but the southern California tribe is taking big steps in the renewable energy arena. The tribe built an off-grid system based completely on renewable energy sources. The system relies on wind and sun power, though there's a backup generator just in case. "A lot of people would like to be off of the grid system," Chairman Joe Hamilton told The Riverside Press-Enterprise. The Environmental Protection Agency recognized the tribe for its efforts at a ceremony in April. Get the Story:
