A resolution to apologize to Native people for their mistreatment by the United States has been introduced in the 111th Congress.
Rep. Dan Boren (D-Oklahoma) introduced H.J.Res.46 on April 30.
The U.S. government broke hundreds of treaties it made with Indian nations," he said in a press release. "The impact of many U.S. policies is the source of many of the social and economic disparities that tribes face today."
S.J.Res.14 was introduced by Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) on the same day. He was the original sponsor of the measure in 2004.
