The Ramona Band of Cahuilla Indians announced plans for an eco-tourism resort on its reservation in southern California.
The tribe is working with Catalyx Inc to use alternative energy technologies that will completely power the resort. The project will employ windmills and solar energy and will rely on recycling.
“We want to create a truly natural retreat which mirrors our ancestral heritage of living in harmony with Mother Earth,” said Chairman Joseph Hamilton.
The project is funded by the tribe, the Department of Energy, the Department of Agriculture and other federal agencies.
