The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York suspects foul play in the release of a wolf-dog hybrid that was captured on the reservation.
Tribal authorities captured the animal last month and were caring for it. The goal was to transport the hybrid to a sanctuary in Indiana this weekend.
But when animal control officer Derek Comins went to check on the wolf-dog on Monday, it was gone. Someone had cut the lock to the place where the animal was being kept.
The tribe doesn't consider the wolf-dog to be dangerous but wants to recapture it to provide it a safe home.
