John Herrington, the first Native American to walk in space, will speak at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, on May 1.
Herrington is a member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma. He worked at NASA from 1996 to 2005 and took part in the space shuttle Endeavour's mission to the International Space Station in 2002.
Herrington last year took a 4,000-mile cross-country bike ride to promote math, science and space programs to Indian students.
