The Morongo Band of Mission Indians contributed a total of $40,000 to the trust funds for the families of four Oakland police officers who were killed in the line of duty.
The tribe sent its condolences to the families along with the money. “This tragedy doesn't just impact Oakland or Northern California,” said Chairman Robert Martin, The Palm Springs Desert Sun reported. “It is something for all of the state and the nation to respond to.”
The officers were shot during a traffic stop last Saturday. The shooter was killed by police.
