Senate approves road for Alaska Native village
As part of an omnibus public lands bill, the Senate on Thursday approved a controversial road through a wildlife refuge in Alaska.

The road through the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge will benefit residents of King Cove. It provides access to health, emergency and other services across Cold Bay.

Alaska's Congressional delegation and Gov. Sarah Palin (R) support the road. Environmental groups say it will disrupt wildlife in the refuge.
