Eugene Creighton, an attorney and member of the Blood Tribe, has been appointed to the Provincial Court of Alberta.
After graduating from University of Alberta law school in 1985, Creighton served as in-house counsel for his tribe from 1986 to 1994. He then joined the Walsh Wilkins law firm, where he later became a named partner.
The firm, now known as Walsh Wilkins Creighton, is unique for having an office on the Blood Reserve. Creighton represents a number of First Nations and Native organizations.
Creighton will serve the provincial court in Calgary starting on April 6. His appointment was announced by Alberta Justice yesterday.
