The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians purchased the naming rights to the stadium at San Diego State University in California.
Beginning July 1, the 12,845-seat venue will be known as Viejas Arena. The $6.9 million, 10-year deal promotes the tribe, but not its casino.
“San Diego State is more than its athletic teams. Viejas is more than its casino," SDSU President Stephen Weber told The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The tribe's reservation is 22 miles east of campus.
