Alaska Native leaders from 42 Interior communities are meeting in Fairbanks for the annual Tanana Chiefs Conference convention.
This year's theme is "In Partnerships- Strengthening Our Culture and Traditions and Building our Future." Tribal leaders discussed energy, education, subsistence and energy as the conference opened on Monday.
“We need to work cooperatively more so than we have been in the past,” TCC President Jerry Isaac told The Fairbanks Daily News Miner. “We’re thankful to have heart-to-heart talks with each other.”
The conference runs through Thursday and is being broadcast online at http://www.tananachiefs.org/meeting/index.asp.
