The South Dakota House passed a resolution that calls for more collaboration between state, local and tribal governments.
Rep. Ed Iron Cloud III (D), a member of the Oglala
Sioux Tribe, introduced the resolution. He originally wanted the state to study a cabinet-level Department of Native Affairs.
“I just feel that tribal issues and needs are not really heard,” Iron Cloud told The Rapid City Journal.
The bill goes to the state Senate for consideration.
