Edwina Little Light, the wife of the late Carl Venne, the former chairman of the Crow Tribe of Montana, has filed papers for his vacated seat.
Little Light plans to follow Venne's agenda. She wants to ensure continuity in tribal government, encourage energy development, improve educational levels and promote law and order.
Cedric Black Eagle, the interim chairman of the tribe, also plans to run for the seat. The primary election is March 28, with the general election scheduled for April 18.
Venne died on February 15. He was 62.
